You can search for vehicles using either the VIN or with the year, make, model, and style. You can further adjust your search by selecting odometer, region, grade, color, and build.
It’s not uncommon to find differences between MMR values and guidebooks. MMR prices are based exclusively on millions of actual sales that are updated daily. The statistical programs that compute the averages are completely neutral, using universally accepted statistical techniques without editorial opinion or bias. MMR programs do not use interpolation to compensate for insufficient data. Guidebooks, which do not have access to the same amount of data as the MMR, use editorial expertise and limited market observations to arrive at prices.

The MMR makes old-fashioned mileage tables, that do not allow for differences in how a vehicle is used, obsolete. The MMR statistical programs compute a separate average mileage and per-mile depreciation factor for every vehicle in its database.
The Base MMR is the average wholesale price, odometer, condition grade and build quality of recent transactions for a given year, excluding outliers. Recent transactions are more heavily weighed to ensure the base MMR reflects seasonal trends and market dynamics.
New calculations are meticulously performed every night to include the most recent sales transactions in the MMR database. The statistical engines rigorously analyze every transaction, ensuring that all the MMR values, historical averages, depreciation factors, regional and seasonal adjustments, and price forecasting, are based on the most up-to-date and accurate information available.
The statistical engines of the MMR are highly adaptable, prioritizing data integrity and availability. The MMR doesn’t make assumptions when it lacks the necessary data. For instance, the MMR refrains from providing estimates for mileage depreciation and price forecasts if there are not a sufficient number of recent and statistically reliable transactions. However, as soon as reliable data becomes available, the MMR promptly applies the best statistical methods to estimate MMR values, ensuring its responsiveness and reliability.
MMR Adjustments play a crucial role in providing a detailed breakdown of how specific factors such as odometer, geographic region, condition, and exterior color impact a vehicle’s value relative to its base MMR. These adjustments are derived from comprehensive statistical algorithms and models analyzing wholesale transaction prices, recalculated daily for each year, make, model, and style.
The differences in results occur because you are using a different dataset than the one utilized by the MMR statistical models.
MMR consists of two components. First, the prices and mileage displayed in the MMR are pre-calculated by the MMR statistical engines and stored separately from auction transactions in the back end. The user-facing side simply displays these values without actually calculating them. Second, the auction transactions shown on the Transactions and Auctions summary tabs represent a sample from the past 30 days, providing additional market insights. However, MMR statistical models base their calculations on all transactions for a specific vehicle, not just the recent ones listed in the summary tabs.
Statistical solutions for calculating averages from small data sets, such as brand new models or seldom-traded vehicles, requires a lot of processing time and horsepower to arrive at accurate averages. This kind of heavy lifting is outside the capabilities of desktop PCs
Although vehicle condition is subjective and the MMR is objective, we recognize that condition is a crucial factor for many of our subscribers. To address this, the MMR program not only simulates condition by showing values and mileage estimates above and below the average, but also incorporates the AutoGrade condition score. This additional data helps provide a more comprehensive view of a vehicle’s value.
Projected or forecasted values are MMR predictions of prices for the next month. These projections are based on millions of auction transactions that are updated daily and the result of the MMR comprehensive forecasting program. The accuracy of the modeling technique is not a one-time assurance, but a daily commitment, tested against the most current actual auction transactions and adjusted based on the best available statistical model, ensuring the reliability of our predictions.
The MMR provides an estimated average range of retail values based on Cox Automotive retail transactions for specific year, make, model, and style. These retail prices, shown for subscriber convenience, are estimated mark-ups over wholesale values. It’s important to note that since Manheim does not collect retail value data, users are strongly advised to consult additional retail information sources to obtain more accurate retail price estimates.

The number of transactions in the Transactions table varies because it represents a sample of only recent auction data from the past 30 days. This sample size fluctuates due to various factors such as number of auctions held, the volume of vehicles sold, and market activity. The table is designed to provide a snapshot of recent transactions, offering insights into the wholesale market without including excessive data.
The “Small Sample Size” icon appears when there are not enough transactions to calculate a reliable MMR for a specific year, make, model, and trim (YMMT). For the user’s convenience, the MMR is estimated using the original MSRP and depreciation trends from similar vehicles. This ensures you still receive useful value estimates even when actual transaction data is limited.
The MMR Range may not be displayed when there are insufficient transactions for a specific year, make, and model (YMM). As more transactions occur for that vehicle type, the range will narrow based on the adjusted factors, increasing the reliability and specificity of the MMR and providing a more precise and confident valuation.
MMR values for multiple VINs at a time can be retrieved through the Valuations API.
All pricing is completed nightly, Monday through Friday, ensuring the latest data is always available. The process begins Monday through Friday evenings at 10pm ET, and finishes between 12:30 and 2:30am ET. It also runs on Sunday at 4am ET and typically finishes around 7:30am ET.
