Reconditioning Seller

Best Practices for Sellers

Selling vehicles effectively on Manheim requires strategic preparation and leveraging available tools. Here are best practices to help you sell more efficiently and attract more buyers.

Step 1

Set Up Notifications and Payment Preferences

Stay updated by enabling text or email notifications. You can manage these settings through the Profile link in Manheim.com or under Account Preferences in the Manheim app.

Step 2

Price Vehicles Near Market Value

Before listing a vehicle, check the Manheim Market Report (MMR) to set a competitive price. Pricing between 90% and 110% of the MMR value attracts more buyers, offering a balance between visibility and competitiveness.

Step 3

Register Vehicles Early

Early registration maximizes marketing exposure. When vehicles are checked in early, they appear sooner in the pre-sale listings, allowing dealers to preview and generate interest.

Step 4

Add Condition Reports and Inspections

Condition reports (CR) increase a vehicle’s likelihood of selling by 2.5 times. Adding a Manheim Certified Inspection provides extra assurance for both you and buyers, helping your vehicles stand out. Contact Dealer Services for more on certified inspections.

For sellers on OVE (Online Vehicle Exchange), ordering an offsite condition report can save on transportation. If you have three or more vehicles requiring inspections, you can request an inspector to come to your lot, inspect the vehicles, and create listings.

Step 5

Improve Vehicle Appeal with Reconditioning Services

Consider Manheim’s reconditioning services to improve a vehicle’s CR grade. From paint and bodywork to mechanical fixes and detailing, Manheim can handle multiple reconditioning tasks at once to enhance your listing’s appeal.

Step 6

Promote Vehicles In-Lane

Promote Vehicles In-Lane

In-lane promotions can attract more interest and generate more bids for your vehicles. Reach out to Dealer Services for information on promoting vehicles during auction events.

Step 7

Utilize the Seller Dashboard-Selling Center

Access the Selling Center from the Sell tab on Manheim.com to monitor in-lane vehicles. This dashboard lets you update floor prices, view live and historical data, and share insights with other dealers.

Step 8

Be Available During Auctions

Buyers prefer sellers who are ready to make quick decisions. If you can’t attend the auction, use the Remote Seller Tool to participate and manage decisions remotely.

Step 9

Ensure Titles Are Available

Having titles ready is a strong selling point, as buyers appreciate a smooth title transfer process. When a title is missing, a blue light above the auctioneer signals this to buyers, so always submit titles promptly to auction clerks.

Step 10

Explore Second-Chance Sales and OVE

If a vehicle doesn’t sell in-lane, consider IF Bids, Second Chance Sales, or listing it on OVE. Vehicles are automatically listed on Second Chance Sales for further buyer exposure, but your Manheim representative can help tailor a sales strategy.

If you sell a vehicle in retail after listing it on OVE, remember to remove it to avoid disappointing potential buyers and impacting your seller rating. Manage this through Inventory Manager or contact your auction for help.

By following these best practices, you can enhance your selling experience on Manheim. Start implementing these strategies by logging on to manheim.com, ove.com, or downloading the Manheim mobile app. Happy selling!
