Excessive Mileage Guidelines for Vehicles with Absent Title

If a vehicle is returned for absent title and has more than 500 miles from what is recorded on the bill of sale, the buyer will be charged $0.725 per mile (or the IRS mileage rate, whichever is higher) over 500 miles, up to 25% of the sale price. For low-priced vehicles, the charge will be the higher of $500 or 25% of the sale price.
